Taras Schnauzer Kennel was founded in 1994 in Romania, with the purchase of our first black female Giant Schnauzer, Duchesse de Saint Victoire, known as Tara. Her presence around us made our lives happier and more beautiful; that's why the kennel is named after her.
During the past years we bred many generations of puppies. Our Giants proved to be valuable champions in beauty shows, excellent companions for the family as well as great dogs for personal protection.
To maintain our high quality, our reproducers are very carefully chosen. They are selected by their results in international shows, by their temperaments, and at last but not the least, by their results as working dogs.
Frequently, we bring in top show dogs from kennels from all over Europe. A good example is Romanian Champion Borivok Ore Apacs imported from Hungary. Recently, we brought in from Russia, Russian Champion Gloris Snowstorm and two other females, Ch. Gloris Merrydancers and Ch. Gloris Particularly Case, which are Romanian Junior Champions for now.
Behind our great results is our professional veterinarian team from Tara's Vet (in charge with our dogs' good health and nutrition), the experts from our grooming saloon, Tara's (they not only groom our Giants for the beauty shows, but also many other breeds) and our training team who socializes and tests our puppies in the human and working environments and makes our champions ready for the Working Class.
For us, a good temperament for a Giant Schnauzer means a watchful dog, a courageous, deeply loyal to the family, a playful and a reliable friend. What Giant Schnauzers love most is to play and run; they could be an ideal companion on a bike ride or on a jog.
To ensure a healthy and a happy relationship with your puppy, our specialists offer advising and support sessions for the new owners.
If you are interested to purchase a puppy from us you'll have to contact us directly because we never sell our pups in pet-stores or with the help of other type of organizations.

The Giant Schnauzer was developed to be an alert, vigorous, versatile, and intelligent dog able to herd cattle. The Giant Schnauzer should closely resemble the Standard and Miniature Schnauzers, but it is important to understand the Giant Schnauzer, Standard Schnauzer, and Miniature Schnauzer, are three separate and distinct breeds. The Giant Schnauzer is not a giant dog, but he is the largest of the Schnauzers standing 23 to 27 inches at the withers. Not until just before World War I did the Giant Schnauzer begin to come to nationwide attention in Germany as a suitable subject to receive police training at the schools in Berlin and other principal cities. So you want to own a Giant Schnauzer? The Giant Schnauzer has a harsh double wire coat which requires skilled professional grooming at least twice a year and weekly grooming in between. The Giant Schnauzer is happiest with his family and is very good with young children and other pets, but may be aggressive with strange children or strange pets. Giant Schnauzers are loyal to their owners and eager to defend family and property. The Giant Schnauzer should be obedience trained at an early age.
